What is a scarifier used for?

By using an aerator and scarifier, you can improve the aeration, irrigation and nutrition of your lawn. The aerator uses a number of pins that rotate on a shaft to create air channels to help oxygenate the soil. Moreover, the water and nutrients, e.g. fertiliser, can be absorbed more quickly through the channels, which is very important for old, deeply-rooted lawns with strong roots. This makes it easier for water and nutrients to reach the soil, resulting in a nice, even growth of the grass without bald patches, especially visible after the mowing.

Aeration can be carried out with hand tools, e.g. forks or special spiked shoe covers, but who has the time and strength to do this effectively and over the entire lawn? That's why it's a good idea to find clever solutions for aerating your lawn, and with the addition of the scarifier function, you can take care of your garden lawn comprehensively. The scarifier has several specially curved blades on a shaft. The blades rotate and bite into the soil during operation, loosening the soil and breaking up compacted areas of lawn and mowing residue.

The scarifier is also able to cut into the soil by means of its longitudinal incisions, which allow the lawn to be better irrigated and nourished, while the removal of thatch and the moss layer helps the lawn to grow evenly. The scarifier additionally aerates the soil by cutting into it.
